By Burt HoffmanNewport's sewer system, unable to treat our sewage properly, is polluting our harbor and beaches. We must stop adding sources of waste. Failure to stop new sewer connections until the system's capacity is increased threatens the health of the public and the health of the economy.

2006 City Council And School Committee Canidate Surveys

ALN prepared questions for city council and school committee candidates from questions received from individuals and neighborhood organization members. City Council candidates were asked to respond to five questions with a yes or no answer, and seven questions in 300 words or less. Responses were received from Ward Candidates Marvin Abney and Charlie Duncan (1st Ward); David Cullen and Justin McLaughlin (2nd Ward) and Kate Leonard (3rd Ward). Responses were received from At-Large candidates: Mary Connolly; Stephen Coyne; Bobby Oliveira; Ted Slee; Steve Waluk; Jim Dias and Jeanne Marie Napolitano.
